First Writing Session

Nel and Bram get together for the first joint writing session. We start with ‘White Peaks’, the opening of the show and a song that was sketched out over the last couple of months. Bouncing off intuitions and small ideas. Much to our surprise, the broad outline of the song comes together in a couple of minutes. Twenty minutes later we’ve put our first written verse into a compelling melody. If we’re able to pull off what we have in mind, ‘White Peaks’ will be quite the opener.

Here’s a bit of inspiration.

We’re borrowing elements from Belgium’s greatest, Jacques Brel, and combine them with ideas of a Romantic Georgian composer, Alexander Borodin, who wrote In the Steppes of Central Asia, a gorgeous symphonic poem, in 1880.
